What We Help With

We support women at every life stage. From your first period through to menopause and beyond, our GPs are here to listen, explain your options in plain English and work with you on a plan that fits your body, lifestyle and goals.

Common Topics

This includes Cervical Screening Tests (Pap Smear), Breast Examinations and 45 to 49 year Health Assessments. These checks help pick up changes early so you and your GP can plan simple, timely next steps.

We can talk through Contraception and Family Planning so your choices match your health, relationships and future plans. Your GP will explain options in plain English and help you decide what feels right for you.

Pre Pregnancy Counselling gives you space to ask questions before trying for a baby. Your GP can review your medical history, medicines and lifestyle, and suggest steps that support a healthy pregnancy.

Pregnancy and Antenatal Care appointments can cover early pregnancy concerns, routine checks and shared care where appropriate. Your GP can explain what to expect in each trimester and when other supports or referrals may be helpful.

FAQ's

General Women’s Health at our clinic is for women and people assigned female at birth of all ages. It covers everyday concerns like periods, breast changes, pelvic pain, mood, sleep and general check ups. If you have a question about your body or hormones, a General Women’s Health appointment is a good place to start.

You do not need a referral to see a GP for General Women’s Health. You can book directly with your chosen doctor or the first available GP. If you later need to see a specialist, your GP will provide a referral and explain why it is recommended.

For a General Women’s Health appointment, it helps to note your main concerns, any symptoms, when they started and any medicines or supplements you take. You can bring previous test results or letters from other doctors. Wear comfortable clothing and feel free to bring a support person if that helps you feel at ease.

Yes. Many people feel more comfortable seeing a female GP for General Women’s Health concerns. Our reception and online booking system can help you choose a female doctor when available. If no female GP is free at your preferred time, we can suggest the next suitable appointment.

During a cervical screening test as part of General Women’s Health, your GP will explain the process, ask for your consent and offer a chaperone if you wish. A small sample is taken from the cervix and sent to the laboratory. The test is brief, and you can ask to pause at any time.

How often you need a General Women’s Health check up depends on your age, medical history and risk factors. Many women benefit from a yearly visit to review periods, blood pressure, lifestyle, screening tests and mental health. Your GP will suggest a review schedule that fits your situation.

Yes. Period pain and heavy bleeding are key concerns in General Women’s Health. Your GP can assess your symptoms, organise tests if needed and discuss treatment options. If your periods affect work, study, sleep or daily life, it is worth booking an appointment to talk through your options.

Breast checks are a normal part of General Women’s Health. If you notice a lump, pain or any breast change, book with your GP promptly. Your doctor can examine you, arrange imaging if needed and help coordinate any further testing or specialist review. Most changes are not cancer, but it is important to check.

Yes. Mental health is an important part of General Women’s Health. You can talk to your GP about mood changes, anxiety, low energy or sleep problems. Together you can explore possible causes and supports, which may include lifestyle strategies, counselling, care plans and follow up appointments.

Preconception planning fits well within General Women’s Health. Your GP can review your medical history, medicines, vaccinations and family history, and discuss lifestyle factors that support a healthy pregnancy. It is helpful to book a longer appointment if you have several questions or health conditions to review.

We are committed to providing gentle, respectful Women’s Health care that supports your needs, values and privacy at every visit.
