What We Help With

Nutrigenomics looks at the relationship between your genes, nutrition and lifestyle. Testing may provide insights into areas such as insulin response, lipid metabolism, methylation, inflammation, oxidative stress, detoxification pathways, vitamin needs, exercise response and some inherited health risks. When used alongside a full medical review, results can help guide practical steps to support your health over time.

FAQ's

Nutrigenomics Consultations are GP appointments that explore how your genes may influence your response to nutrition, exercise, stress and other lifestyle factors. Your GP reviews your health history, blood tests and genetic report together, then explains what the findings may mean for your long term health and wellbeing.

Nutrigenomics focuses on how genetic variations may affect nutrition, metabolism, exercise response and lifestyle needs. Standard genetic testing may look for specific inherited conditions or disease causing changes. Nutrigenomics is usually used to guide personalised health planning, while still being interpreted alongside your symptoms, family history and blood test results.

Nutrigenomics testing may provide insights into areas such as insulin response, lipid metabolism, methylation, inflammation, oxidative stress, detoxification, vitamin needs and exercise response. Some profiles may also explore hormone, fertility or gut health pathways. Results do not diagnose every condition, but they can help guide more personalised health discussions.

A Nutrigenomics Consultation may suit people who want a more personalised understanding of their health, especially if they have a strong family history, metabolic concerns, fertility questions, gut health concerns or an interest in prevention focused care. Your GP will discuss whether testing is suitable for your situation before you proceed

Nutrigenomics may help identify genetic predispositions that can guide lifestyle, nutrition and screening discussions. It cannot guarantee disease prevention. Your GP uses the results alongside your medical history and blood tests to help identify practical steps that may support long term health and reduce modifiable risks where possible.

Three longer consultations are required because nutrigenomics reports can be complex. Your GP needs time to review your health history, arrange blood tests, explain the genetic report and create a personalised plan. This staged process helps make the information clearer, safer and more useful for your everyday health decisions.

In the first Nutrigenomics Consultation, your GP will ask about your medical history, family history, lifestyle, diet, sleep, stress, exercise and health goals. They will explain the testing process, discuss privacy and limitations, and may arrange detailed blood tests so your results can be interpreted in context.

Blood tests are usually helpful because they show what is happening in your body now. Nutrigenomics testing shows genetic predispositions, while blood tests can assess current markers such as iron, vitamin levels, lipids, glucose or inflammation. Looking at both gives your GP a more complete picture of your health.

Some nutrigenomics profiles may include genetic markers linked with dementia risk or brain health. These results need careful explanation because genes are only one part of risk. Lifestyle, medical history, family history and other health factors also matter. Your GP will discuss what the result may mean and what steps may be appropriate.

Nutrigenomics does not replace regular medical care, screening or treatment. It is an extra tool that may help personalise prevention focused advice. Your GP will still consider your symptoms, examination findings, blood tests, medical history and Australian health guidelines when recommending next steps for your care.

We pride ourselves on providing a friendly, caring, and efficient service in a confidential manner.
