FAQ's

Nutrient Therapy is a way of looking at how vitamins and minerals may relate to your symptoms and overall health. In a Nutrient Therapy appointment, your GP reviews your diet, medical history and test results, then suggests safe options such as food changes, supplements or infusions and injections where appropriate.

You might benefit from a Nutrient Therapy check if you feel unusually tired, get frequent infections, have gut issues, follow a restricted diet or are planning pregnancy. Your GP can assess whether nutrient levels may be part of the picture and advise on suitable tests or changes for your situation.

At a Nutrient Therapy appointment, your GP asks about your diet, lifestyle, symptoms, medicines and past blood tests. They may suggest checking certain vitamin or mineral levels and review any results with you. Together you talk about realistic changes, such as food choices, supplements or infusions, and plan follow up where needed.

Iron infusions are usually considered in Nutrient Therapy when blood tests show low iron and other options, such as diet or tablets, are not suitable or have not worked well. Your GP will explain possible benefits and risks, review your medical history and discuss whether an infusion is an appropriate choice for you.

Vitamin B and vitamin D injections are sometimes used when blood tests show low levels and other forms are not suitable, or when your GP believes they may be helpful. Not everyone needs injections. Your doctor will discuss your results, medical history and preferences before suggesting any specific approach.

Nutrient Therapy does not replace a balanced diet. It focuses on understanding and addressing possible gaps while still seeing whole foods as the main source of nutrition. Your GP may recommend specific supplements or infusions in some cases, but these usually work best alongside healthy eating, sleep and movement habits.

Blood tests are often helpful in Nutrient Therapy but are not always required. Your GP will consider your symptoms, diet and medical history before ordering tests. In some situations, careful dietary changes may be tried first. If tests are needed, your doctor will explain which ones and why they are being done.

Some Nutrient Therapy GP appointments attract a Medicare rebate for eligible patients, which lowers your out of pocket cost. Some blood tests may also be partly funded, while others can have a fee. Costs for infusions or injections vary and do not attract rebates from Medicare. Our reception team can explain current consultation fees, likely rebates and any procedure costs before you book.

Children can have a Nutrient Therapy assessment when there are concerns about growth, restricted eating, frequent infections or specific medical conditions. Your GP will take a careful history and examine your child before suggesting tests or supplements. They will focus on food first and explain any recommended products or treatments clearly to parents. Your best option is always a thorough consultation with your GP first.

You usually do not need to stop supplements before a Nutrient Therapy visit, but bring a list or the bottles with you. Your GP will review doses, check for overlaps and consider whether any products are still needed. In some cases, they may suggest pausing or changing supplements after reviewing your tests and history.

We pride ourselves on providing a friendly, caring, and efficient service in a confidential manner.
